Our journey begins from the village of Stemnitsa, the village of goldsmiths and the first Peloponnesian Senate of 1821, a point where many travel routes meet. We start from the village and follow a dirt road that hugs the hillside below the paved road Stemnitsa-Dimitsana. Near the church of Agios Nikolaos, a wooden walkway leads us to the first path, the ancient road to the monastery of Prodromos.
This trail is well-written and locally built, crossing an area that was once cultivated, with the Kamari spring at its centre. We then follow the paved road for a while, arriving at Metamorphosis Sotiras, where the fountains and views of the gorge keep us occupied for a while. Then,we proceed to the cobbled path that leads to the Moni Prodromos.
Crossing the rock where the monastery is located (which is open to visitors daily) and following the path marked with and cobbled path for most of it, we continue to Dimitsana. Cross the river on an impressive little concrete bridge and climb uphill to the Old Monastery of Filosofos and then to the New Monastery of Filosofos.
After a short rest at the New Monastery of Filosofos, we head towards Dimitsana, passing through various streets and alleys. We cross the western bank of the gorge, over old farms, reaching the bridge of Monopori. We change bank with the help of the bridge and follow the old path towards Dimitsana, heading for the water drive museum.
Throughout the route we follow the signal .
