A path through history, springs and fir forest.
From a distance the trail between Zygovisti and Elati looks like a way to get from one village to the next. It is more than that: a route past old churches, springs and a plateau, through the forest.
You start in Zygovisti, by the old church of Agios Ioannis and the fountain called Piso Vrysi. From there the path leads to the Papa’s Field, where the church of Agios Georgios stands.

02 The route
From spring to spring.
A broken lane leads to Asoves, and from there a built path to the Bourniades spring. A gentle climb brings you to Bilalis’s crossroads, where the old paths to Stemnitsa meet.
You descend to Lakka Koskitsa, where a large spring with a trough gives you water, and then take the steep ridge up onto the Vlachika plateau. The Wolf’s cave and the Bourboulistra spring are here.
The path comes down to the Paliochori fountain and the church of Zoodochos Pigi, and continues along a fine trail to Elati. Follow the waymark throughout.
