Water, stone fountains and the forest of Elati.
This is section 4 of the Menalon Trail. Described from Elati, the route drops to the bed of the Mylaontas, where it meets the riverside path.
From there it follows a well-marked trail, partly cobbled and partly a simple path, with waymarks all along.

02 The route
Springs and a fountain.
The trail passes the large water intake at the Pyrgaki springs, which supplies Vitina, and then the stone fountain of Makrinos.
It then follows 970 m of dirt road to the place called Ellinika, below the hill where the acropolis of ancient Methydrion stood.
