Stone villages on the mountain
Red roofs, cobbled lanes and monasteries, a short drive or a long walk from Vitina.
Read on ↓01 Villages of Menalo
Each village sits on a different slope, and looks back at the next.
Vitina is one of nine villages on the Menalon Trail, which runs for 75 km across the mountain and down into the Lousios gorge. Most can be reached by road in a short drive, and all of them on foot.
Stemnitsa was known for its goldsmiths and as the seat of the First Peloponnesian Senate of 1821. Dimitsana holds a Water Power Museum and the monasteries of the gorge nearby. Elati and Nymfasia are closer to Vitina, among the firs.

02 Walk it
Village to village.
Two sections of the trail join the villages directly: Stemnitsa to Dimitsana through the Lousios gorge, and Vitina to Elati and Nymfasia on the mountain.
For a day without walking, drive the loop and stop where something catches your eye. For distances and the rest of the area, see Vitina and the area.
